Borehamwood Kenilworth By-election

Elaine Elliman

Borehamwood is a vibrant and lively place to live. I am, I hope like you, proud to be a part of such a fantastic community. That's why I am so excited to be standing for the Liberal Democrats in the Borehamwood Kenilworth ward by-election.

I want everyone to be as proud as I am of our town. I also want to provide a true alternative to the current Conservative and Labour borough councillors.

I have lived in the town for 25 years, with both my children attending local primary and secondary schools (my eldest has just completed a degree in Civil Engineering and my youngest is in her final year at university). I have been a schoolteacher for 16 years and have taught in Borehamwood schools throughout my whole career. I may even have taught you, or your neighbours, or even your children!

I know our community faces some really significant issues, especially for families and young people and especially for our schools. Funding for education is something I'm passionate about and the impact of the Government cuts on our local schools is something I want to fight every step of the way.

I am also passionate about protecting and improving our greenspaces, I'm a committee member of the Borehamwood 4 parks Association which meets with the parks department, to support its work around the town. We helped Aberford Park achieve its Green Flag status, something we believe is a real positive for our area.
